Dear Patients of Smiles for the Future Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics, and Adult Dentistry,

The Doctors at Smiles for the Future have been closely monitoring the spread of the coronavirus. We care greatly about all of you, your children, and our team. We are responsible for ensuring the safety of our community. For this reason, we decided to close our office and postpone any non-emergent care starting 3/17/2020 until deemed safe to return. We took this difficult decision very seriously.

While the official numbers in Connecticut are still relatively low, the authorities expect them to grow in the coming weeks. In the interest of patient health and the health of our team members and their families, these measures can play a role in limiting the spread of this disease throughout our community. The circumstances here in Connecticut and globally are changing quickly. We expect to see many other dental practices join us in closing their offices. As of today, the Virginia State Dental Association, the Massachusetts State Dental Association, and the California State Dental Association have all recommended that dental practices postpone all non-emergent care. We expect Connecticut to do so shortly.

There are still many unknowns. But this proactive measure is aimed at limiting the spread of the virus and keeping patients and practitioners safe. Right now, our priority is to do our part in decreasing the rate of transmission. Many of you have heard on the news in recent days of the importance of “flattening the curve” to prevent our health care system from being overwhelmed. If we can decrease the number of patients who require ICU care over the next several weeks, we will have done our part.

At this challenging time, it is important to stay calm in the face of this storm and use science and knowledge to help us navigate forward. We will get through this together.

Our staff will be in touch to reschedule all postponed treatment as soon as we are able to do so safely.

As always, please call the office if you have a dental emergency or dental concern.

We appreciate your understanding and wish you all well,

Drs. Schulman, Tauber, Katechia, Sher and Braverman
